A message from our VP of External Recruitment
I am so excited you have decided to go through formal recruitment, this is such a fun and exciting process! It’s a time when you will make so many memories and meet so many wonderful women. When I went through recruitment, I remember being so shocked at how fast it all went by. If I could offer any advice to you, it would be to take it all in and savor every moment. The recruitment process can lead to so many fun experiences throughout college whether you are looking for sisterhood, leadership, or community. I am grateful for every experience I have had, and I am so excited that you want to start your Panhellenic journey! Throughout the process remember that all of the recruitment staff is here to support you. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at evoita@nmsu.edu or any other member of the recruitment staff. I hope you have an amazing summer, and I can’t wait to meet you all!
With Love,
Betty Voita
Primary Recruitment, sometimes referred to as Formal Recruitment, is an amazing opportunity to meet with each Panhellenic chapter at NMSU. Primary recruitment occurs at the beginning of fall semester and is a great way to connect with the community at NMSU as a new or returning student! Before recruitment begins, you are required to attend a Potential New Member (PNM) Orientation. At this event you will learn what it means to be a sorority woman at NMSU and how to prepare yourself for recruitment. Then, over the course of three days you will meet with each sorority and learn about their unique sisterhood, how they help their communities, and have a unique glimpse into a chapter's ritual ceremony. Directly after recruitment is Bid Day, where sororities will extend bids to women they envision in their chapter, and those who accept will run home to their chapter and become New Members.

What does mutual selection process mean?
This is the process in which both the Potential New Member and the individual sororities are making membership selections throughout recruitment. Potential New Members will make decisions regarding sororities they want to join and the sororities will make decisions regarding the women they want to invite to their events.
What is a bid?

be enrolled in 12 credit hours at NMSU
encouraged to have a 2.5 GPA
A bid is an offer from a sorority to become a New Member. Bids can be offered after Primary Recruitment or during a COB process.
What or who is a Rho Gamma?
Rho Gammas are women in the Panhellenic community who have disaffiliated from their chapters in order to help Potential New Members through recruitment. This means that PNMs do not know what chapter their Rho Gamma is in and they can be seen as a neutral mentor for girls as they move through the recruitment process. PNMs are encouraged to talk to their Rho Gammas and ask them any questions they might have about the recruitment process and Greek life in general.

A message from our VP of Public Relations
Thank you so much for your interest in our Panhellenic community! We are all so excited to see you in the fall and create new memories with you. As I reflect on my recruitment journey I only have a few pieces of advice. Formal recruitment can be very intimidating and you might find yourself focusing on all the things that could go wrong-- do your best to live in the moment and welcome these new experiences with an open mind. Let go of your expectations and go with the flow! At the risk of sounding cliche, be yourself! Recruitment is all about finding your home away from home and the girls who you connect with the most, and you can’t do that if you don’t stay true to yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Your Rho Gammas are there to help you through the recruitment process and are ready to answer any questions you have about Greek life and college in general. I am also available to answer questions via the Panhellenic Instagram: @nmsu_panhellenic. I can’t wait for you all to begin your Greek life journey, it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of my life, and Im so excited to see what it brings you!
XOXO,
Becca
